COZAAR is proven to do more than lower high blood pressure (BP).
Studies have shown that COZAAR is a proven medicine with multiple benefits. Like a multipurpose tool for your health, COZAAR can:
Lower your high BP
If you have high BP, COZAAR can help relax your blood vessels and lower your BP.
Lower the chance of stroke
If you have high BP and a heart problem called left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH), COZAAR can reduce your chance of having a stroke. COZAAR may not help black patients lower their chance of having a stroke.
COZAAR is the only medicine in its class proven to lower the chance of stroke.
Slow the worsening of kidney disease
If you have type 2 diabetes with decreased kidney function and you have high BP, COZAAR can delay the development of serious kidney disease.
COZAAR is a prescription medicine. It is in one of the newest classes of BP medicines called angiotensin (AN-jee-o-TEN-sin) II receptor blockers (ARBs). Angiotensin is a natural substance in the body that causes blood vessels to narrow or close down.
COZAAR blocks angiotensin, which can help keep your blood vessels open and relaxed. Keeping your blood vessels relaxed helps lower your BP so your heart does not have to work as hard.
COZAAR fits easily with your treatment. COZAAR can be taken alone or with other medicines that lower your BP. This is important because most people with high BP need more than one medicine to control their BP. Read why it is important to keep taking your BP medicine.
